Fantastic Fan Troubleshooting During Short Circuit

Introduction

You might want to take your RV out for a ride in the wilderness. But while checking to see if everything is okay you might find that the Fantastic fan is not working.

That means you won’t be able to cook inside the RV. And in case you do, the smoke will fill up the entire van. And you certainly don’t want that to happen.

So, you might be wondering what are the steps for fantastic fan troubleshooting, right?

Well, we will show you how to fix the Fantastic fan. But before you do let’s take a look at why the problem occurs. This way you’ll know what you’re dealing with.

Are you ready? Then let’s begin.

Why is your Fantastic fan not working?

There can be many reasons for a faulty Fantastic fan. You see, the most common ones are having dust stuck between the motors.

This mainly happens because the Fantastic fan usually has wires on the outer. So, foreign particles are always invading the wires and motors since there is no guard.

A quick way to fix this is to take out all the screws and polish the fan till it’s squeaky clean.

However, if dust and dirt are not your problems then it might be due to the short circuit. And to fix that issue you need to follow a couple of steps.

Why don’t we walk you through the steps?

Things you’ll need

This way you can work uninterruptedly. So, take a look at the items below before heading off to work.

LIST OF ITEMS:

  • Electric tape
  • Screwdriver
  • Wirecutter
  • Voltmeter

All the steps on Fantastic fan troubleshooting

Alright. Now that you know what you’ll need and where the problem lies you can get to work. But hold on, before you do make sure your hand is dry.

You see, you’ll be working with wires and circuits and you want to avoid the electric shock. You’ll face more damage than frizzy hair.

Once you dry off your hand you have the green signal to start the process of fixing the Fantastic fan.

Step 1- Remove the screws using a screwdriver

Firstly, you need to remove all the screws holding the Fantastic fan in its place. Usually, there are about 8 screws that surround the shield of the fan. However, it may vary depending on the model you use.

Now, to actually remove the screw you need a screwdriver. Once you remove the primary screws you also need to remove the screws that hold the motor unit.

You can let the motor unit hang by the wire. Then you need to remove the screws in the bezel.

After that slide down the fan shield to remove the 2 screws attached to the inner side. Then and work with the screws are over.

Step 2- Take out the knob

Once the screws are out of the picture you need to open up the knob. In case you don’t know what that is, it looks like a black tap handle. And it’s the biggest thing sticking out from the fan.

So, it will be hard to not notice it. But how do you open the knob?

Simple, all you have to do is turn it to the right side. Keep turning it to the right until the knob starts to loosen up.

Once the job is done you’ll see that the knob completely loosens up and comes right into your hand.

Step 3- Remove the lock

After you loosen up the knob, you need to remove the lock. Now for this, you need a screwdriver as well.

However, regular ones won’t work. You see, the screws for the lock are a bit smaller. So, you’ll need a smaller screwdriver to get the job done.

Once you remove the lock you can head over to the next step.

Step 4- Check the wires for short circuit

Once you finally have access to the wires you need to check if there is a short circuit or not. To do this you need the help of the mighty voltmeter.

Attach it to the wires to see if it gives you the correct reading or not. If it tells you that there is no short circuit in the wire then your problem is not the short circuit.

However, if the voltmeter indicates that you need to fix the wires then you need to work accordingly. So how do you repair the wire? Check out the next step for your answer.

Step 5-  Fix the wires

The most common problem with the wires is they come out of the place they are supposed to be in. So, you can simply tuck them back into their right spot.

Then, you can attach an electric tape over them to ensure that they don’t get out again. Other times you might find that the wire burns off in the middle. This happens due to overheating.

So, to fix that problem you need to attach the wires and then close them up with the electric tape. This will patch up the burn spot.

Step 6- Put everything back in place

Lastly, put everything back in its place and attach all the screws. Then, you can turn on your fan and you’ll find that it’s working at full speed now.
