How to set the water heater plug in the drain?

Preparation
The first thing you have to do is take adequate preparation for the process. So, let’s see what item you’ll use to get the job done.
List of items:
- A 15/16” Plug
- A ratchet wrench
- An extension tape of length 5-10”
- A bucket
Once you have all these items in your possession get the bucket and position it under the water drain. Otherwise, you’ll be drenched in water that will rush out of the water heater drain.
With that the preparation is complete. Now you can commence the required steps.
Step 1- Take out the old plug
First things first, you need to remove the old plug before you can replace it with a better version. So for this use the wrench that you gathered and pull out the plug.
However, once the plug is removed you’ll see water splurging out like Niagara Falls. So you need to act quickly. To know what to do next move on to the second step.
Step 2- Place the new plug in the socket
By now you must know that you have to tackle the overflowing water. But with what? Well, you have to put the new plug in its place.
To do that hold the new plug near the opening of the drain and twist it in. Initially use your hand to do most of the job. Hold on from using an instrument just yet.

Step 4- Cover the plug with extension tape

To seal off the deal you need to tie in some tape around the plug. Or you will occasionally hear the dripping of water.
And that can be quite disturbing when you’re trying to get some sleep. So make sure you tape down the plug before you call it a day.
Step 5- Refill the water heater
The last step that you need to do is refill the water heater. You see, while you were switching the plug some water ran out of the heater.
So, you might want to fill that up before you call it a day. Or else you won’t find any water coming out of the heater when you switch the water heater on.
